Alice Elizabeth Reimer, born April 1, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2025. The daughter of Percy and Betty Roseberry, Alice was raised in the Waterloo area, where she developed the values of kindness, strength, and devotion that defined her life.
A graduate of Waterloo Columbus High School, Class of 1963, Alice continued her education at Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque, earning her RN in 1966. She began her career as a nurse at Central Community Hospital, where she cared for patients with dedication and compassion. Later, she devoted herself to the well-being of students as a school nurse at Central Community High School, where her warmth and professionalism touched countless lives. In addition, for approximately a decade, Alice and staff at the Elkader Veterinary Clinic made significant contributions to the cattle industry through their pioneering work in embryo transfer procedures.
On July 31, 1965, Alice married her husband, Kenneth Reimer. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and service. Alice was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Elkader, Iowa, where her faith guided her daily life and community involvement. Medjugorje held a special place in Alice's heart, serving as a source of deep spiritual renewal. Her travels with Madonna Hosch to Medjugorje were testaments to her Christian faith and continue to inspire those who knew her to seek a closer relationship with God.
Alice's greatest joy was her family. She was a steadfast source of love and encouragement for her children-Matthew (and Tracy) Reimer, Martin (and Jackie) Reimer, and Jennifer (and Kevin) Andrew-and her grandchildren: Brittany (and Noah) Manning, Kitri Reimer, Cailin Reimer, Anica Reimer, Benjamin Haddinger, Hallie Haddinger, and Owen Haddinger. She was also blessed with a great-grandson, Reimer Manning. In addition, Alice and Ken graciously opened their home to Jim Roseberry, Roger Neumann, and Fernanda Castillo, welcoming them with warmth and generosity.
Alice's support for her family knew no bounds. She was a constant presence in the stands, cheering on her children and grandchildren at their games and events, her pride and enthusiasm unmistakable. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of her famous cheesy potatoes and breakfast casserole-dishes that became cherished traditions at every family gathering.
Known for her selflessness and family-centered spirit, Alice was also a dedicated Cyclone fan and a formidable bridge player. Alice's life was a testament to love, faith, and loyalty. She leaves behind a legacy of grace, patience, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Alice weathered intense suffering in her final days with the faith of a saint. Her Catholic faith gave her strength in the darkest moments, drawing peace from prayer, online mass, and daily communion. Ken and Jennifer were privileged to care for her with devotion and love. St. Croix Hospice was a blessing, along with family and friends offering comfort and a gentle transition from this life to the next.
Alice is survived by her brother, Jim (and Sharon) Roseberry; her sister, Marian Jacobs; and her in-laws: Mary Reimer, Doug (and Kathy) Reimer, Susan (and James) Dinan, Linda (and Chris) Schoulte, and Donna (and Dan) Miller.
