I have many warm memories of Alice when we were young teachers at White Oak School. Alice was extremely bright and hardworking. She was a wonderful teacher. We spent hours chatting on the phone at night discussing events past and present and our hopes for the future. One unbelievable thing she did for me was to single-handedly wallpaper my bathroom.
Unfortunately we drifted apart. I am so sorry for the loss of this special person.

She was always there for me. Always. I will miss our talks about politics, and i will forever think of her whenever i think about anything having to do with Christmas. Or Star Wars. Or many other things. She was a great lady.

Alice was a founding member and leader of the Hillcrest (UP Church) Book Club that started over 100 books ago. We met at the church
for several years and then at member De Triponey's home in Monroeville. Alice was a valued voice as we discussed the finer points of mostly novels, although
we also met Louie Zamperini, the 1936 gold-winning Olympics rowing team, Hedy Lamarr, and other fascinating characters drawn from real life. Alice inspired her students and her friends with her love of reading. She was always ready to recommend one of her favorites from her voracious reading experiences.
We love you, Alice, and we will miss your presence in our little club. We are so thankful for your willingness to lead and contribute of yourself to expand our enjoyment of sharing books with one another.
(The picture below shows the first book of the club, picked by Alice. If you look closely, you will see a fox, a favorite creature of Alice's.)
