Alice Saathoff

Alice Saathoff (1907-2011) NEW HARTFORD- Alice Saathoff, 103, of Cedar Falls, formerly of New Hartford, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center. She was born November 1, 1907 in Butler County near Parkersburg, daughter of Elso and Harmka Williams Van Hauen. She married George Saathoff on June 20, 1933 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died May 30, 1986. She farmed with her husband near Shell Rock until they retired in 1963 and moved to New Hartford. Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Slifka of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Wanda (Gary) Lenius and Wendel Slifka; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Harm and Theodore (in infancy); a sister, Hattie; her sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
