It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Marie Sharpe, age 91, on April 2nd. Alice was born in Duluth on September 24, 1933 to Seidor and Marie Boyd. She graduated from Denfeld High School and made her home in Hermantown for 67 years.
Alice’s family and friends were her cornerstone and she was cherished by all who knew her.
Alice joined her parents; siblings Margaret Koloski, Raymond and Warren Boyd, and Elizabeth Nelson; son Mark Sharpe; and grandson Myles in heaven.
Alice is survived by her children; Cindy Summers, Dean (Robin) Sharpe, Holly (Rick) Krug, Alison Sharpe, and Mark’s wife Mary Sharpe. She was a proud grandmother to grandchildren Tim, Josh, Jason, Peri, Lyndsey, Spencer, Tyler, Greg, and Alaynah, and treasured great-grandchildren; Lily, Cash, Denver, Malachi, Rylan, Judah, Haven, and Aspen.
Alice worked for St. Mary’s Hospital in respiratory care until she retired in 1998. After retiring, she devoted her remaining years to volunteering at St. Mary’s in the family room and serving in many capacities at Gethsemane Covenant Church. Alice’s warm heart, selflessness, and kind spirit touched many lives and her legacy of faith, service, and love will endure.
A memorial service to honor Alice will be held on Friday, May 2nd with a visitation beginning at 11am, and the service at 12pm at Gethsemane Covenant Church, 4479 Ugstad Rd., Hermantown.
