Alice Ann Silva, age 95, passed peacefully into the arms of her beloved Lord on February 19, 2026, in Visalia, California. She was born on July 28, 1930, in
Tulare, California to Joe R. and Maria L. Souza. Alice was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Tony J. Silva; her parents; her siblings Virginia Peichoto, Henry Souza, Mary Rezendes, Manuel Mello, and Velma Oston; and her beloved granddaughter, Emily Silva. She is survived by her loving children, Brian A. Silva (Kathy) and Brenda M. Serpa; her cherished grandchildren, Anthony Silva, Joseph Silva, and Alyssa Serpa; her sister, Rosie Mendonca (Carl); and beloved Godchildren, nieces and nephews. Alice attended Liberty Elementary School in Tulare, Tulare Union High School for her freshman year, and graduated from Visalia Union (Redwood) High School in Visalia in 1949. In her early years, she worked at Leggett's Department Store and J.C. Penney as a salesclerk and buyer. After becoming a mother, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her home, children and working alongside her husband on their dairy. She was an active volunteer at Waukena School and faithfully served in the Waukena School Community Club, including several years as President during her children's school years. When Brian and Brenda reached high school, Alice returned to the workforce at Imperial Savings. Alice was a devoted parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where her faith was nourished and lived out in community. Her love for Jesus Christ was the center of her life. Even as illness gradually took her memory, her love for the Lord never wavered. She would hold her crucifix close and say, "My Jesus. He's always with me." She and Tony shared a deep and special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima. The annual Portuguese celebration in Tulare was especially meaningful to them - a cherished expression of their faith, heritage, and community. Those celebrations were joyful reminders of their love for Our Blessed Mother and the traditions that bound family and friends together. Family was her greatest earthly treasure. She shared thirty beautiful years of marriage with Tony until his untimely passing, and she carried his love in her heart always. She gave selflessly, placing the needs of others before her own. Acts of service were her quiet ministry - whether through meals prepared, help offered, or prayers whispered, she loved deeply and without condition. In her early retirement years, Alice found joy in traveling, especially cruising with dear friends. Those adventures brought her laughter, companionship, and treasured memories. Alice will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her generous heart, her devotion to family, and the gentle strength that defined her life. Though she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved Tony and resting in the eternal presence of her Savior. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at TLC Assisted Living for the loving care and dignity they provided during her final years, and to Bristol Hospice for their support, comfort, and guidance throughout this past year.
