Alice Stone Obituary

Alice Wyvonee Stone, age 81, of Ostrander, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Dublin Methodist Hospital.

Alice was born on June 4, 1944, in Castalia, Ohio to the late Elgin Fish and Helen (Zimmerlee) Fish. Alice graduated from Townsend Highschool, in the class of 1962. Following graduation, Alice went on a blind date with Robert W. Stone. This blind date led to their marriage in 1968, and 49 wonderful years of marriage prior to Robert's passing in 2017.

Alice worked for Goodyear for many years as a secretary, before she eventually retired in 1999. Outside of Goodyear, Alice also worked directly with her husband who founded Environmental Protective Coatings, LLC.

Outside of work, Alice had many passions. One such passion was cars. This spanned from going to car shows, drag races, as well as collecting Corvettes (her favorite model being the '06 – 2015 with the license plate VET4AL). Alice also had a passion for music, teaching herself how to play the piano. She took this love for playing the piano with her to church, playing for the church choir. Alice loved to travel as well, especially to Costa Rica or any of the Hawaiian Islands.

In her spare time, Alice also enjoyed Ohio State Football and being with her precious boxer Ceasar.

Most of all, Alice loved to be in the company of her family and friends.

"Wild Al" was a giving, thoughtful, loving, and unique spitfire of a person who will be missed greatly by so many.

In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Stone; sisters Janet Gilbert and Judy Loudenslager; as well as niece Angela Adkison.

Alice Wyvonee Stone is survived by the adopted son she never had Brian (Raquel) Parish of Prospect, Ohio; sisters Verna Hill of Champaign, Illinois and Kathy Myers of Green Springs, Ohio; brothers LaVerne Fish of Sandusky, Ohio and Charles Fish of Fremont, Ohio; as well as well as nieces and nephews Kevin Hill, Kim McGraw, Robin Gilbert, Robert Gilbert, Donald Fish, Charlene Kipfer, Jay Myers, Amy Fish, John Fish, Randell Loudenslager, and Jaci Coglan.

Calling hours are being held at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon. A funeral service will follow at Snyder Rodman Funeral Center at noon. Following the service a graveside committal service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Ostrander.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ostrander United Methodist Church at 166 W. North St., Ostrander, Ohio 43061 or to the Delaware County Humane Society at 4920 OH-37, Delaware, OH 43015.

Glad to have this venue to share about Aunt Alice. Trying to share all this at the funeral would have been more sobbing and blubbering, less story telling.

I'll always be grateful to Aunt Alice because she introduced my parents to one another. She and my mom, Bevy Beers, worked together during their first jobs out of high school, became friends, and then also became roommates. At one point, the apartment they were sharing unfortunately had a break in. Because of that, my mom moved back home into my grandparent's home for several months, and Aunt Alice even went with her. It was a bit longer commute but allowed them to have somewhere safe to stay while looking for another place to live. One weekend, they traveled an hour away to stay at Aunt Alice's childhood home instead. LaVerne Fish - her big brother - had recently come home from an overseas stint in the Army, and he was there. That's how Bevy and LaVerne, my mom and dad, met. Thank you, Aunt Alice.

Also, I particularly remember visiting Aunt Alice and Uncle Bob in Fort Myers, FL. It was 2007 and they had a second home down there, and my now-husband and I were in our mid-20's and traveling across the country. We had planned to visit and overnight with a few different friends and family along the way. One friend wasn't able to let us stay because overnight street parking was not allowed in their retirement community, and there wasn't room in the driveway for both their vehicle and our whale of a vehicle - a 1969 Dodge Explorer camper van. Another family member would let us stay only on the condition of sleeping in separate bedrooms as we weren't yet married. But Aunt Alice and Uncle Bob graciously welcomed us into their home, no conditions attached. Our marital status and our giant crazy vehicle weren't even a hint of a liability. With their penchant for cars, they really enjoyed our vintage vehicle with it's teal and white exterior, giant non-power steering wheel, formica, and engine situated between the bright teal leather seats.

It was during this visit that Aunt Alice taught me about the test that can check for genetic mutations linked to a higher risk of breast cancer. I've always appreciated her arming me with knowledge that way. Like most of her sisters, Aunt Alice dealt with breast cancer for most of her life. 60 years, in fact.

During our visit, she also entertained us playing the piano - which I could instantly see she loved to do. In undergrad I studied music education and spent many hours playing alongside talented musicians. She was definitely a talented musician.

I love that Aunt Alice and I shared a kinship with animals, and that she both made and requested donations to the Delaware County Humane Society. We both had big high energy boy dogs at the same time, and getting to spend one-on-one time feeding giraffes, like she got to do, I think is basically living the dream.

She was also part of the first generation truly able to have a choice about whether or not to have children. She is a reminder that it's normal, and fine, and good to be a lady-no-kids when you know that's what's right for you. And a bold choice, given her generation and that she was one of 7 kids herself.

I'm happy for her that she blazed her own path, and was able to do what brought her joy. I'm sad that we only spent the time together we did, and not more. But when someone lives on in spirit and in your heart, there's so much they can still teach and remind you of.
