With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Alicia Lopez left this world suddenly on Sunday, July 27 2025 at home in Webster, NY. Alicia was born on June 20, 1959 in East Chicago, IN to the late Juana & Jorge Lopez. She attended Eugenio Maria de Hostos HS in Mayaguez, PR and also attended Indiana University Northwest.
She is predeceased by her siblings: Joseph Hector Lopez, Blanca Valles and Jorge Emilio Lopez. She is survived by her sisters: Maria Lopez, Elba Lopez, Jenny Lopez, Luz Perez and Delia Soto, and her brothers: Edward Lopez, Eddie Lopez and Daniel Lopez.
Alicia was a devoted mother whose huge heart helped raise two lovely sons, Alfredo and Andres. She was an adoring aunt to her niece, Dalia, and her children: Santino, Cecelia and Theia and shared an unwavering bond with her sister, Maria. Most recently, she lived with and cared for her two grandchildren, Ari and Gemma, who were her world.
As the heart of the family, Alicia was always willing to help, no matter the circumstances. She was always there oftentimes putting the needs of others first: her most compelling quality. Alicia loved to cook and feed others (locally known for her delicious flans).
She loved butterflies and could not start or end the day without her cup of coffee. Most referred to her as an angel because of the light, love and guidance she bestowed onto others. She will forever remain our angel, lighting our way, until we meet again.
The family will receive friends 4-6pm Friday August 1, 2025 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 6 Empire Blvd. (next to Donuts Delite), Rochester, NY 14609.
On Saturday morning, at 9:30am, please assemble at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester, NY 14615 for her mass of Christian burial. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Ronald McDonald House at https://rmhc.org or the North American Butterfly Association at https://naba.org/
