Alitha “Leets” Florentine (Luecht) Amundson, age 101, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Leets was born on October 24, 1923, to Jonas and Auguste Luecht in Belfast Township near Fulda, Minnesota. On April 9, 1941, she married Wallace Monroe Amundson. Together they raised 10 children.
She is survived by nine of her children: Shirley Wolff, Sandy (John) Smoyer, Judy Hill, Warren (Ki) Amundson, Dale (Perk Dagner) Amundson, Larry (JoAnne) Amundson, Debra (Ross) Miller, Karen (John) Streff, and Alan (Susan) Amundson. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Leets was the oldest of nine siblings, all of whom preceded her in death: Wilfred, Jonata, Francis, Wilma, LeRoy, Ethel Lea, Kathryn, and Verna. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wallace, and her eldest child Edward.
Her greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered for her wonderful meals and endless “buckets” of cookies. To live more than a century is extraordinary; to have touched so many lives with love is her legacy.
