Allan William Connelly, devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and United States Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. He was 79 years old.
Allan was born in Plymouth, England, and spent his early childhood there before moving with his family to Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of seven. His mother, Charlotte, worked as a journalist, and his father, George, served in the Royal Navy—an upbringing that instilled in Allan a deep respect for service, discipline, and the wider world.
During his teenage years, Allan lived in California and attended Chula Vista High School, where he was an active member of the marching band, playing the clarinet. He also ran cross country and enjoyed surfing, embracing the coastal lifestyle that would stay with him throughout his life.
After graduating, Allan began a distinguished 25-year career in the United States Navy, starting in San Diego. He served three years in the Vietnam War, leading crews aboard various vessels, including troop transporters. His exceptional skill and leadership earned him an invitation to join the Navy’s hydrofoil program, where he operated advanced high-speed naval craft. Allan concluded his military service at the Naval Submarine Base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to his country.
While stationed in San Diego, Allan met the love of his life, Lolita, through a mutual friend in Los Angeles. Their first date—a blind date at the La Brea Tar Pits—sparked a connection that never faded. After only six months, they married and went on to share 45 years of partnership, friendship, and devotion. Their bond was extraordinary; they often said they never had an argument, choosing instead to build a home grounded in respect, routine, and love.
Allan found joy in life’s quieter pleasures. He was an avid stamp collector, a lover of computers and technology, and someone who never stopped learning. But above all, his greatest joy was his family. He dedicated himself to ensuring that those he loved were cared for, supported, and guided. His presence brought stability, structure, and comfort to everyone around him.
Allan is lovingly survived by his wife, Lolita Connelly; his children Stuart Connelly, George Connelly, and Christina Connelly Douglas; and his grandchildren Matthew Connelly, Kaitlyn Connelly, Allan Connelly, and Michael Douglas.
He will be remembered as a steadfast provider, a man of integrity and purpose, and a source of unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the values he instilled.
