Age 66 years, of Summerville, South Carolina, formerly of Malden, Massachusetts, passed suddenly on June 30, 2025.
Allan was born July 22, 1958, in Boston, MA, to Allan F. Gillis of Brockton and Carol Ann (Wilkins) Gillis (predeceased).
He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather to his daughter Amy (Gillis) Lynch and her husband David of Summerville, SC, and his grandchildren, Alexander and Aidan Lynch and Anna and Owen Berfield.
Allan is survived by his former wife Cheryl Arnold (Eisan). And he is survived by his former wife, Helen Gillis and her son Sean Berfield. Allan was also engaged to Kimberly Bueller at the time of his passing.
Allan was the oldest of 8 children, Jimmy, Arlene, Bobby, Leo, Scott, David and Brian (predeceased). He is survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews as well many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Allan was hard working and dedicated. He spent many years in the HVAC business, where he was known for his outgoing personality and attention to detail. Allan loved teaching his grandchildren how to sail and enjoyed nothing more than spending time in and on the ocean with his friends and family. He loved to travel and to enjoy fine food at home and abroad. Allan also loved to read and to discuss history and always loved going to Renaissance fairs in costume with his grandchildren. Allan was always the first one to laugh and his robust laugh will be missed most of all.
Family and friends will honor and remember Allan’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Avenue, DORCHESTER, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 800 Columbia Road, Dorchester, on Wednesday morning, July 9th, at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
