Allen Edward Dellinger, age 79, of Red Lion, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Born in York on April 14, 1946, he was the son of the late Allen and Dorothy Lucille (Wood) Dellinger. He was the loving husband of Judy Lynn (Grothe) Dellinger. The couple met at a square dance that Allen’s father was calling. They married on June 29, 1963, and spent nearly 63 years together.
Allen was a precision grinder, starting his career at Jenkins Grinding, then moving on to Kermitool, and retiring from Flinchbaugh Engineering, where he worked until he was 70 years old.
Allen loved playing softball, and after his playing days ended, he spent 18 years behind the plate umpiring area softball games. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Red Lion. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially when the late, great Dale Earnhardt drove the #3 car. He also enjoyed poker, gaining the nickname “Lightning Al” for his card playing.
In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by his children: Edward Allen Dellinger and his companion, Jenn Snyder; Melisa Lynn Brown and her husband, Terry; and Mathew Morgan Dellinger. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Andrew Joseph Dellinger and his wife, Jackie; Nicole Dellinger; Jenah L. Brozovic and her husband, Joel; Alisyn L. Patterson and her husband, Jack; and Kayde M. Dellinger-Herman; his great-granddaughters, Kendall Dellinger and Lillian Jo Brozovic; and his brothers, Jeffrey Ray Dellinger and Faron Kent Dellinger.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Dellinger and Garland Scott Dellinger, and his beloved daughter, Tammy Jo Dellinger.
A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home, 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, with Reverend Stephany Sechrist officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:30 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations in Allen’s memory be made to Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 220 North Charles Street, Red Lion, PA 17356.
