Allen Maurice Deraney

I was proud to be an on-and-off member of Tired Old Men for 8 years. Al was always encouraging, generous and supportive. I would say that he pushed me to be a better musician.

Thank you, Al, for inviting me into your home and your band. The world is a much happier place for you having been in it.

Your father was our customer for many many years. He was consistently our guest at the Waldorf DCAT dinner and he was very proud of both of you. He always updated us about your high school years, college pursuits and career paths. He also talked about his music and cats and motorcycles. I have some nice pictures of your dad when Sarah Ferguson was the speaker. I will try to get them to you. I was happy to see your dad at the holiday Racemics luncheon two years ago. I'm saddened by his loss and send strength to all of you. He was a friend and dear colleague.

So sorry to hear of Allen's passing. He was a big teddy Bear of a man. I knew him from our mutual love of Laurel & Hardy from our club Sons of the Desert. He was also a member of our tent in NYC and frequently came to our meetings as well. Funny how a movie team brings you together in life. I am so glad he came into mine.
