On March 1, 2025, Allen Moss Eberly, Jr. left the constraints of this world to be with his Lord and Savior, and his loving family that went before him. He was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, where he attended Larchmont and J.E.B. Stuart Elementary Schools, Blair Jr. High and graduated from Maury High Schol in 1964. Afterward, he attended Old Dominion College and then joined the Navy. In 1979 he completed his education by graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern College.
While in Florida, Allen worked for the City of Orlando in the planning department. Gradually, he worked his way up to being the Assistant City Planner. When Universal Studios bought property in Florida, they hired Allen to handle real estate on the east coast.
Growing up he joined Freemason Street Baptist Church as three generations had done before him. He loved the youth group and their many activities. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 190 that met in our church. He played in the school band at Blair and Maury. This helped foster a life long love for classical music and nature. In high school he was a member of Hi-Y, Sea Scouts, and Demolay. As an adult, he became a member of the Masons. He rose to a 32º member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Allen was the son of Allen Moss Eberly and Iris Cook Eberly. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Ruby F. Eberly. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Carol, brother-in-law Bill, nieces Molly and Katie, and nephews Wes and Andrew. Others left to cherish his memory are many step-children, step-grand and great-grand children. The family would like to give a special thanks to his brother and sisters in his present church family of Olive Branch Christian Church and his special friend, Sarah for their love and support in his time of need.
In retirement Allen found his "almost heaven" in Montana. Here he made dear friends, built his dream log cabin, and fell in love with fly-fishing. Know that Allen is at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is probably knee deep in a beautiful stream fly-fishing for trout with Ruby watching near by.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Olive Branch Christian Church, the S.P.C.A. or Trouts Unlimited, 1700 N. Moore St. Arlington, VA 22209 800-834-2419. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Allen, please visit our floral store.
