Allen Kindt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home - Armour on Nov. 30, 2025.
Allen Edward Kindt, 88, went to his heavenly home Friday, November 28, 2025 at his home near Delmont under hospice care. Funeral service will be Friday, December 5 at 10:30 am at the Wagner United Methodist Church in Wagner. Visitation will be Thursday, December 4 from 5 to 7 pm at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour.

Allen was born May 29, 1937, to Edward and Grace (Carpenter) Kindt. He grew up on the farm his grandfather homesteaded and he attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse. Allen graduated from Delmont High School in 1955. After High School, Allen attended college at SDSU in Brookings before joining the National Guard. Growing up, Allen worked with his father and two brothers on the farm, raising livestock and row crops. After his father retired, Allen and his brother Ted farmed together for many years.

In 1965, Allen married the neighbor girl, Karen Kisely. To their union, four children were born. Allen was a true gentleman and humble farmer who enjoyed family and home life. Allen was in the South Dakota National Guard and attended boot camp at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Allen was also a former member of the American Legion and was on the township board for many years. In his later years, Allen "retired" from farming, but he continued to drive the tractor, feeding cattle and horses up until a month ago. He also took great satisfaction from completing crossword puzzles in ink and he enjoyed watching western movies.

Allen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Kindt; daughters Patricia (Tim Tollefsrud), Nancy (Dave Koster), and Jean (Troy Hawkins); grandchildren Logan, Halley, Gage, and Koda Koster, and Anna and Allen Hawkins; and great-grandchildren Warren and Theo Koster. Also surviving are his brothers, Ted and Merlen Kindt, brothers and sisters in law, many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Allen was preceeded in death by his mother and father, a son Edward, sister in law Marilee Kindt, and great-niece Savanna Kindt.

A slideshow will be posted when they have been completed.
