Allen McCray of Norfork, Arkansas, passed away March 10, 2026, in Springfield, MO at the age of 75. He was born May 29, 1950 in Neodesha, Kansas to Glen and Maurine Mong McCray. He attended high school at Shawnee Mission North in Kansas City and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. The birth of his daughter, Melissa, came just prior to earning his MBA from the University of Indiana.
Allen began his career in the investment division of Woodmen Accident and Life Company, spending nearly 24 years with the Lincoln, Nebraska insurance company. He completed the remainder of his career in Arlington, Virginia serving as Sr. Vice President of Investment Operations for Navy Mutual Aid Association.
Allen married Jodi in 2004 just prior to their move to Virginia. Together, they retired to their dream life in Arkansas in 2013.
Allen was an avid fly fisherman and spent untold hours on the White River. He also enjoyed many hours on Lake Norfork fishing with his long time friend, Hall Burkindine.
Allen is survived by his wife, Jodi McCray; daughter, Melissa (Brad) Josephs; step-son, Robert (Lacey) Joseph; step-daughter, Shelley (Jeff) Borchers; grandchildren, Blake and Halle Borchers, Cruz and Lennon Joseph; sister, Molly McCray; and life long friend Barbara Burkindine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Worrell McCray and lifelong friend Hall Burkindine.
A Celebration of Life for Allen will be Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Randy Bolen officiating.
