Allen Dewayne McMillen

Allen Dewayne McMillen, 87, of Summers School Rd., Morgantown, passed away at his residence on May 22, 2024 in the comfort of his family.
Allen was born on November 15, 1936 in Morgantown, a son of the late Lester Wayne and Laura Verna Nicholson McMillen.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Lynn Lewis McMillen whom he married September 9, 1984; five children Kevin Allen McMillen and wife Linda, and Kathy Lynn Barr and husband Vance all of Morgantown, Janet Sue Poling and husband Kevin of Rivesville, Allison Kay Scott and husband Will of Smithfield, PA, and Andrea Nicole McMillen of Morgantown; nine grandchildren Joseph McMillen and wife Katherine of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Cynthia McMillen of Pittsburgh, PA, Katelyn Baker and husband Sebastian of Masontown, WV, Kiera Poling of Pittsburgh, PA, Amanda Funderburg and husband Jason of W. Conshohocken, PA, Douglas Poling of Rivesville, Megan Barr of Morgantown, Ethan Barr of Morgantown, and Nicholas Poling of Rivesville; three great-grandchildren Abigail Baker, Isobel McMillen, and Addisyn Baker; a sister, Carolyn Williams and husband Dave of Morgantown; a brother Gary McMillen and wife Nora of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews. Allen also leaves behind his beloved dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Loraine "Bubbles" McMillen formerly of Morgantown.
Allen was a hard working man, as a farmer on his family farm for many years, and doing masonry work as a bricklayer with local union #15. He enjoyed birdwatching, and was a die hard WVU and Pittsburgh sports fan. He was witty, and had a great sense of humor. He was staunch in faith and very religious. But above all, he was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
The last six weeks of Allen's life were spent at home with his family, and being cared for by Courtney, Carla, and the wonderful folks at WV Caring Hospice, whom the family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to for the care and love they showed to him.
Allen's request was to keep things simple. In doing so, he will be cremated and a private family committal service will be held at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
