Allen Smith Obituary

Allen "Kent" Smith

In Loving Memory

Draper, UT/San Diego, CA-

Allen "Kent" Smith passed away peacefuuly on October 28, 2025 in San Diego, California after a short illness.

Kent was born on July 23, 1950 to Allen P. and Ramona A. Smith. He was the oldest of six children and embraced his role of Big Brother.

Kent grew up in Draper, Utah and enjoyed all that small town life had to offer. He was involved in sports, horses, music and art. He developed lifelong friendships in Draper.

Kent was a proud "Beetdigger" at Jordan High where he excelled in academics, ran track, played football and was elected Senior Class President.

Kent was a member of the Utah National Guard and was a member of the Park City Ski Patrol. He furthered his education at both Utah State and The University of Utah. He was a successful Architect for almost 50 years.

Kent and Suzanne Farish married in August of 1973. Together they raised 4 children in both Utah and California. They later divorced.

Kent has lived in Southern California for most of his last 40 years. He loved the weather, ocean, fishing and all the adventure available to him there. His children affectionately named him the "FunSeeker". He always had a joke or a funny story to tell. His most valuable role was that of father and grandfather. He was very proud of his "troops" and the exceptional people they have become.

Kent will be remembered for his wit, intelligence and kindness. We all miss him deeply.

Kent is survived by his children: Chelsi Smith Kirby, Chris (Emily) Smith, Preston Smith and Emily Smith. His grandchildren: Maya Kirby, Berkley Smith, Bella Smith and Thomas Hayek. His siblings: Douglas (Bonnie) Smith, Annette Smith (Drew Urie), Teresa (Mark) Alvey, RaNae (Michael) Booth, Susie (Barry) Webster. Uncle Paul (Shirley) Smith. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, former wife Suzy Farish, a niece Britaney Smith Crump, an infant nephew Jaramey Smith, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

I am truly saddened to hear of Kent´s death. I will miss his enthusiasm, curiosity and smile. We shared a lot of laughter together in our friendship.

Kent and I served together as Senior Class officers for the Jordan High Class of 68. After the resignation of one of the trio, early in our senior year, we were partners in serving our class, a role we both took seriously. There were lots of laughs and stories shared over the years. Kent never missed working on a reunion. We worked so well together that we usually agreed on most everything. I would toss out ideas, and often he would just say, "Yes dear", and we would both laugh, as we worked together so long we almost knew how the other would react. He truly cared for our classmates. There were times that he did things for the class and swore me to secrecy about his actions. At the 100 year JHS reunion, we learned we were one of only 2 sets of elected class officers still serving their class. I never dreamed as we planned and executed our 55 year reunion that it would be our last one to do together. Here's to the one you are planning in heaven. I will miss you my friend. May I express love and condolences on behalf of myself and the class of '68 to all of Kent's family. Lark Rogers Woodbury

My condolence's to Kent´s family
Kent was my friend. I met Kent at 57 degrees wine bar when it was on 13th and G st. About 21 years ago, in San Diego. The wine bar moved to another location but Kent continued to hang out there too. So through the years we have drank many bottles of wine together, I even hired Kent on one of my remodel projects. Dang it, he was a great guy and my wife and I will truly miss him. Kevin Hofland

Kent was my great buddy. Me painted me the coolest Rat Fink sweatshirt that I wore, all my siblings wore and my oldest son. By then it was only a vest and and was getting very threadbare. He will be missed!!
