Allen Walter Smith, born on May 28, 1949, in Waverly Iowa to Ruth and Clarence Smith, passed away on January 15, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia.

Allen proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Navy, a role that reflected his courage, compassion, and strong sense of duty. His Navy service was a lifelong source of pride and helped shape the values he carried throughout his life. After leaving the Navy, Allen went on to become a mason and a general contractor, where he was known for his strong work ethic, skill, and commitment to doing things right.

In his retirement, Allen shared his life with his partner, Jane, with whom he spent his later years enjoying the slower pace of life and the companionship they built together.

Outside of work, Allen enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting which brought him peace, focus, and time outdoors-often shared with family and friends.

Above all else, Allen was immensely proud of his children, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Darren, Kimberly, and Kurt. Allen was a loving grandfather to Brandon, William, Jeffrey Jr., Wesley, Emma, Andrew, and Christopher. His family was his greatest joy and accomplishment.

Allen will be remembered for his loyalty, quiet strength, and dedication to both his family and his country. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
