Allen Robert Williams, born on January 28, 1950 in Oxford, New York, to Earl Williams and Alice Hamilton, passed unexpectedly on January 31st.
A proud Army veteran, he was drafted in 1969 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970, carrying forward the quiet strength and discipline that would define his work life.
In November of 1971, he married Darlene Armstrong. Together, they built not only a marriage but a life rooted in hard work and perseverance. In 1973, they opened an auto repair business in West Exeter, New York. Their son, Allen Levi Williams, was born in July of 1975.
In 1981, the family moved to Burlington Flats, New York, where they launched an auto salvage business that served the community for nearly 25 years, continuing until 2005. Known for his mechanical skill and determination, he earned the respect of those who worked alongside him and those who relied on him.
In the early 1990s, he opened his home and his heart to two children who needed a family, Michael and Tamara Wildey. He raised them as his own, offering stability, guidance, and unconditional love.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Williams; his son, Allen Williams, and Allen’s partner, Sarah Robarge; his daughter, Tamara; fourteen grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Sabra Williams; and his sister and brother-in-law, Vonnie and Kenny Baker, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael; his brothers, James, Bruce, and Roger Williams; and his sisters-in-law, Vivian, Susan, Cissy-Ann and brother-in-law, Sonny.
A private memorial service will be held.
He will be remembered as an imperfect man who built a family, a business, and a life defined by loyalty, resilience, and quiet generosity.
