Allene Goers, 92 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, Missouri. Born Thursday, February 28, 1924 in St. James, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Galloway Spurgeon and the late Clara Ferris Spurgeon. She married Armin D. Goers on May 23, 1942 and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2005. She graduated from Bland High School in 1942. She lived most of her life in Mayview, MO, moving to Higginsville in 2008. She was a member of Mayview Baptist Church. Allene was a former member of the Lexington V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Higginsville Lions Club where she cooked their meals for many years. She loved to garden and can, which was shared with a multitude of people over her ninety two years here on Earth. She was known for her quilting abilities and started her own quilting business which spanned more than twenty years. She was also a store clerk at Buck's Grocery Store for 20 years, retiring in 1984. Surviving are two sons, Dale (Patricia) Goers of Shelbyville, MO and Dale (Nicki) Goers of Edwards, MO; two daughters, Syble (Bob) Cretzmeyer and Dorothy (Raymond) Hoeppner of Warsaw, MO; one brother, Galloway Spurgeon of St. James, MO; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Armin; one son, Dean Goers; 4 brothers, Leslie, Oral, Charlie and Allen Spurgeon and 3 sisters, Martha Sewell, Ethel Plemons and Clara Harvey. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in St. James, MO. Casket bearers are her grandsons. Interment will be in Bowen Cemetery, Bland, MO. Memorial contributions may be sent to Meyer Care Employee Christmas Fund. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hoeferfuneralhome.com
