Coley and Tac, I did not know Allison but it sounds like she was a beautiful person, inside and out. Anyone who cares for the defenseless children or animals is an angel. I know you have lots of wonderful memories together, cherish those always. Much love

Another beautiful flower has been taken; for our purposes far too soon. Memories of Allison, Laura & I playing near the railroad tracks in the rock piles - the hammock in Laura's yard - Though I haven't seen her in many years I will ALWAYS hear Allison's sweet, sweet laughter & see that smile - flaxen Beauty!!
I wish for her family & friends much peace in knowing she is safe & resting well. My deepest condolences to all.

Allison always brought a smile and humor to work. She was wonderful to work with and a great listener. BCSD will miss her loving light.

I first met Allison back in 2008, my first year at Battery Creek HS. I was new to the district and brand new to my self contained class. Allison took time to come to my class and observe me with my students. She was always so positive and helpful and you never had to wonder what she was thinking She really helped me get going in the right direction and whenever I needed help or had a question, she was always there and could lighten the mood in any room. I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing and she will be dearly missed. My prayers go out to her husband and family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Allison's family. Allison's advice, practical tips, and humor helped me help my students be successful. She will surely be missed by special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and all who worked with students with Autism.

Like so many who worked with Allison in BCSD, I was heartbroken to learn of her passing. As a new employee to the school system, I was often stressed and overwhelmed. Allison always had a way to make me forget the stresses of the day by her compassion, solutions to pending issues, and her great sense of humor. I always looked forward to the times she would come to my classroom and when we would have conversations on the telephone. She will be so greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers to her family. I know she is now in heaven looking down on all of those who loved her.

Words cannot express the shock, sorrow and heartbreak l felt upon hearing of Allison's passing. As I think of Allison I have nothing but fond memories of past Beaufort Water Festivals and college day's camparroo/white water trips on the Nanthahala, or ski trips to North Carolina. Of all the fun times we all had together. Allison and Dale's wedding. Driving down to stay and dive with Allison and Dale off West Palm Beach. Years later, Allison picking me and my German buddy up from the West Palm Beach Amtrac station one Thanksgiving after the transmission went out on my buddy's Bronco as we were driving down to Jupiter to dive with Allison and Dale, and enjoy Thanksgiving with them as their guests. Of the last time I saw Allison, when she brought school children to the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston and bumped into one of the volunteer divers in the Great Ocean Tank, me. I am honored to have known Allison and extremely lucky to have enjoyed such fond times with her, Dale, Coley & Tac, and all their families and friends. My heart is full of sorrow at her loss and for the heartbreak of the Marshall, Battey and White families as well as that of all who also knew and loved Allison. But also, my heart is full of joy for having the privilege to have known such a beautiful, kind, wonderful, thoughtful and loving person. I know fond memories of Allison will abound in the hearts of all who's lives she has touched. My deepest sympathy and prayers, as well as those of my wife, Dee, to all of Allison's families and friends at her passing. Charlie Nelson

Allison was a giving person, ready to listen, ready to help. She assisted countless students, parents, and teachers. She had a wonderful way of putting laughter into almost any situation. Allison was a beautiful person, inside and out. We were all blessed by her presence and it will continue in our hearts and in the schools. Blessings, love and deep felt sympathy to her wonderful family, friends and colleagues. The emptiness is there but may we all fill them with incredible memories.

It's hard to find the right words, but what I can say is that Allison made me smile . . . no matter how challenging to reach a child or how long a meeting that started late in the afternoon went . . . She will be missed by all that knew her . . .

Dayle and all of Allisons children I am deeply saddened by your loss of a precious wife and mama. You are all in my prayers for peace and strength. Coley, Tac, Caroline and Becca my heart hurts for you and how you will miss her. Allison always made me laugh and seemed to have her mom's beautiful smile which I believe Caroline and Becca will help preserve. Coley, Sue, and Mr. Battey no words can ease your pain but know your Allison was a brave fighter and I feel priveledged to have known her. -Melissa, Tac's sister

To Allison:
We came to the BCSD 6 years ago from Arkansas. When we met you, we immediately felt we were in the presence of family. We were impressed with your wonderful smile and warm personality. We immediately knew God had brought us to the right place. You always treated both of us with the in same degree of respect eventhough one of us is a teacher and the other is a an assistant. You made us laugh in all situations and came along beside us when we needed help. To say the least, you were a tremendous blessing in our lives. We will not fail to pray for your sweet family. May our gracious God hold each one of them close to Himself. Almighty God has you with Him now and we would bet you are keeping a smile on His face. Precious friend, you will be greatly missed.

I've known Allison for many years and am heartbroken over her passing. We shared some fun times during high school and college and I danced at her wedding. Got to meet Dayle in the river during Water Fest some years ago. And then, a couple years ago when my college roommate, a dear friend of Allison's also, came to town to visit, Allison made the effort, on very short notice and in spite of getting lost trying to find my place, to join us. What a time we had. I am sending much love and my deepest condolences to all of Allison's loved ones. She was so special and will be missed.

I also worked with Allison through the school district. Whenever I needed her, she was there to help. She always had a smile on her face and she was always willing to jump in and help out in any way that she could. I knew that if I asked her for advice or help that she would show up! I will miss her greatly, and I am thinking and praying for her loved ones.

My deepest sympathy to dearest Allison's loved ones. It was an absolute privilege to know Allison, a genuinely kind hearted person. I always looked forward to seeing her, working with her and learning from her. She was truly a gifted teacher in listening, empathizing, and problem solving to best serve the children and their families. No doubt, she is being oriented to lead angel and her bright light will continue to shine. When I think of her, I will always smile. Will always love you and miss you, "Darlin".

I got the news today. Oh boy. The image of Allison in a pair of ray bans smiling and headed to the beach is one I have always associated with Beaufort. She let me and a buddy borrow her dad's truck one time and went to bat on our behalf in front of her father upon the news we wrecked it. When u say good as gold, u may as well say Allison Battey. My sincere condolences to the survivors close to Ms Allison. Beaufort simply won't be the same. Maintain.

I knew Allison over the 6 years I worked in Special Education with the BCSD. She became a good friend who always took time to talk with me. She never failed to inquire regarding my kid's progress and offered to help me in any way she could. She was a true blessing from God in my life. I will miss her greatly.

As a 5th year SpEd teacher, I learned so much from Allison, particularly during the past year. She was ultimately professional at all times, but brought a special positive energy to my classroom whenever we collaborated. In the face of major challenges, her sense of humor and grounded common sense approach was so important to our kids. She was well-loved and appreciated by her coworkers. I will miss her. Prayers for the family.

I remember the first time I met Allison as I also work for BCDS. She was knowledgeable, helpful, professional and real. Her dedication to the children she worked with was always the most important thing to her. She was very kind and had a smile that would light up a room. Going back to work next month will not be the same for the staff that worked with her. She will truly be missed.

Allison was never without a smile! She was a wonderful educator and was always helpful to others.
Growing up next door to her, I saw her adventurous side. I admired her spirit as a young girl and was so happy when she settled back in Beaufort with her growing family. I know it is your time to leave earth Allison, but I and so many others will miss you. I will always remember you, and thanks for always putting up with me being a fixture at your childhood home!

Dayle, Josh, Jason and Emily,
Words cannot adequately express the sadness and sense of loss I feel since losing my friend, yet it pales in comparison to what you all are feeling. Allison truly inspired me with her zest for life and the way she impacted the lives of the children and families she came in contact with. I will miss her dearly but she will forever live in my heart. May God comfort you by giving you peace in your hearts in knowing she is never far away. Heaven truly gained another angel.

God has truly taken another angel. Allison was an amazing individual that I had the honor of working with and getting to know over the last four years. I will miss her smile, laughter and dedication to our students everyday. Rest in peace my friend...I know you are looking down smiling as always. You will forever be in my heart and will never forget you.

From the moment I began working at Beaufort County School District and sharing an office with Allison, she made me feel like I was her best friend. Allison was like that....she made everyone feel like they were her best friend. She was such a good listener. She could empathize, but she could also laugh her belly laugh at something funny. She greeted me with a smile and usually began with "Hey, you!" Sometimes it was "Hey, darlin'", but it was always welcoming. She frequently made the time to drop by or meet for a glass of wine, just to "catch up".
Allison was a dedicated professional, endeared by all who had the privilege to know her and see her work her magic with children. Her three children and Dayle were the loves of her life and brought her so much pride and joy. There will always be a hole in my heart left by her sweet spirit.
