Allyn "Bunky" C. Harris, a long-time resident of Preston, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 of heart failure at the age of 92. He was born in New London, Connecticut on April 18, 1933. Son of the late Charles and Edna (Hovey) Harris, he was one of eight children. He was the loving husband of Marie (Nickerson) Harris for 63 years.

He is survived by his two sons, Scott Harris, wife Veronica, Jason Harris, and his partner, Joe Koluder. He leaves behind his granddaughter, Kiara Harris and his grandson, Vito Cruz. He is survived by his sisters, Muriel Benjamin, Linda Leferve, and Deborah Harris, and his brothers Charles Harris and Nelson Harris. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Pelletier and brother Donald Harris.

Allyn will be remembered by his many accomplishments, he was a graduate of Chapman Tech in June of 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 aboard the Destroyer (USS THE SULLIVANS) in combat. He worked as an electrician for the Western Electric Power Company in Upstate, New York. He skippered for the Myjoy out of Niantic for several years. A loyal volunteer fireman for Poquetanuck Fire House for many years. He was employed at General Dynamics for 25 years, retiring in 1995.

In retirement he enjoyed, refurbishing and selling antiques. Allyn was a self-taught guitarist who also sang in the Saint Catherine's Choir and the Preston Community Chorus for several years. He was a snowbird for 20 years enjoying his time in Harbor Lakes Resort in Florida. In the Resort, he was involved in many variety shows. He enjoyed numerous trips with Marie and his close friends across the world to Saint Martens, Jamaica, Cancun, Germany, Italy, France and Austria. A fitness enthusiast who always stayed active throughout his whole life as well as create sketches and artwork in his down time. He enjoyed spending time with all of his family and quality time with his grandchildren.

Memorial service to be held at Woyasz & Son Funeral Service on April 18th, 2026 at 141 Central Avenue in Norwich from 11AM-1PM followed by a Celebration of Life at Hotel Callista located at 352 Main Street, Norwich next to the Post Office from 1PM-3PM
