It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alma Brewer, beloved mother, grandmother, and treasured friend, who departed this life on December 19, 2025, at the age of 93. Alma was born on February 26, 1932, in Booneville, KY, to the late Boyd and Clara (nee Byrd) Sandlin. She was a devoted resident of Fairfax for over 55 years.
Alma was known for her profound love of reading and her incredible culinary skills, which brought joy to many gathered around her table. She had a sparkling personality that matched her fondness for sparkly shoes, always bringing a touch of glamour to every occasion. Together with her late husband, Richard, Alma created countless cherished memories, enjoying walks through nature, exploring new places as they traveled, and embracing the simple joys of camping under the stars.
A dedicated member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alma found deep purpose and community in her faith. Her love for music was an integral part of her life; she passionately played both the piano and guitar and found great joy in singing with the church choir. Alma's love for God was evident in every aspect of her life and her unwavering faith served as a guiding light for those around her.
Family was the cornerstone of Alma's life. She took immense joy in spending time with her two daughters and all of her grandchildren.
Alma was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Richard A. Brewer; Loving mother of Kathryn (Terry) Bernard and Leisha Burnside; Cherished grandmother of Peter "Frog" (Nora) Murphy II, Kayla (Adam) Noyes, and the late Rachel Olson; Great grandmother of Kacey Olson, Ethan Olson, Ezra Noyes, Scarlett Noyes, Teddy Noyes, Christa Fields, Samantha (John) Gibbs, and Tristen (Samantha) Bare; Great great grandmother of Carson Bender, Cameron Jarrell, Olivia Gibbs, Malachi Gibbs, and Benjamin Gibbs. Along with her husband, parents, and granddaughter, Alma is preceded in death by her siblings Pauline Burch, Eula Grizzell, Elmo Sandlin, Wilbur Sandlin, Reba Peters, Lowell Sandlin, and Jack Sandlin.
Alma Brewer will be remembered not only for her kind spirit and warm heart but also for the love and joy she radiated to everyone in her life. She leaves behind many who were touched by her grace.
