Alma Jean Combs Mitchell, a beacon of warmth and laughter, left this world on May 20, 2025, at the age of 91, in
Paris, KY. She entered this life on July 22, 1933, in the quaint town of Happy, KY, born to parents Robert and Gipsy Combs. She lived a life characterized by devotion to her family, her faith, and a deep-seated kindness that touched all who knew her.
Alma's journey was shared with her beloved husband, Louis Thomas Mitchell, until his earlier passing. Together, they embroidered the fabric of their family with love and care. She was the cherished matriarch to three children, Michael (Patsy) Mitchell, Vickie (Chuck) Pasley, and Cheryl (Mike) Bergbauer; revered grandmother to Billy (Olga) Mitchell, Timothy (Chrissy) Mitchell, David (Callie) Johnson, and Brian (Shetara) Johnson; The tapestry of Alma's family extends to her fifteen great-grandchildren: Ariel, Kayla, Julian, Simon, Ally, Merrick, Abbie, Justin, Damien, Kirsten, Harley, Asher, Reese, Lily, and Winter. The family circle includes the joyous addition of her great-great-grandchild Ezra, who brightened her later years. Alma also leaves her beloved sister, Kathleen Fox, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, who all felt the warmth of her unwavering support and humor. She was preceded by her granddaughter Shannon Mitchell, her brothers Billy, Carlos, Arly, and Eddie Combs, and her sisters Inez Noble, Ilene Norwich, and Nancy Woody.
Alma embraced the role of homemaker with a passion that resonated through the walls of her home and beyond. Her strong affiliation with Peyton's Lick Christian Church reflected her unwavering commitment to her faith. Besides her devotion to family and church, Alma found joy in crocheting, walking, and sharing humor that could brighten even the cloudiest of days.
Best described as faith-filled, funny, and incredibly kind, Alma's legacy is an intricate tapestry of the lives she touched with her quiet strength and boundless compassion. Her life stands as a testament to the love and joy she instilled in the hearts of those she encountered.
As we say goodbye, we celebrate the rich tapestry of Alma Jean's life through treasured memories and a shared love that endures. Her laughter echoes in the stories recounted, and her spirit remains a gentle guide, continuing to inspire us every day.
