LIMA -- Alma "Mary" Hogle, a woman whose vitality defied her age and whose faith sustained her through every season, was called home to the Lord at age of 94. She passed peacefully at 6:24 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Lima Convalescent Home, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and quiet joy.
Born in Lima, Ohio, on September 8, 1931, to the late Michael Luchini and Leona Mae (Shindeldecker) Williams, Mary was a true daughter of the community. After graduating from Bluffton High School, she poured her heart into caring for others, spending many fulfilling years working at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was a member of the Lima Baptist Temple for a long time, and her deep and unwavering love for the Lord was the cornerstone of her life.
Mary had a captivating spirit and a zest for simple pleasures. She was known for tuning into her police scanner to keep a pulse on the town, only to switch gears for the thrilling escapism of her favorite game shows. She had a rhythm in her soul, too, and loved the lively music and movement of polka dancing.
In her healthier years, Mary was an absolute fixture on the streets of Lima. She wasn't just walking; she was traversing the city with purpose and stamina, a familiar figure seen out for hours everyday rain or shine until her late 80s. She possessed a marvelous, enduring energy that inspired everyone who knew her.
She has now joined her beloved husband, Richard Earl Hogle, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1985, after they shared nearly three decades of marriage, beginning on September 16, 1958.
Mary's memory will be cherished by her three children: Carla Jean Hogle of Lima, Richard "Mike" Hogle of Denver, CO, and Patrick E. Hogle of Munich, Germany She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild, who will carry her spirit of perseverance and faith forward.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Gary Hohman will be the officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lima Baptist Temple, 982 Brower Rd, Lima, OH, 45801.
