Almanzo (AJ or Manzo) Jones was born on Sunday, January 28th, 1968 in Chicago Illinois to Ida and Curtis Jones Sr., and he passed away on Friday, January 19th, 2024 in Portland Oregon..just 9 days shy of his 56th birthday.
Manzo grew up in Portland, Oregon from the age of 2. He attended the following schools: Vernon Elementary, Whitaker Middle, Benson High and graduating from Jefferson High School in 1986. He then went to Oakwood College (now University) in Alabama and Portland State University where he majored in business management. During these times of school, he also held down a job working at Zell's Cafe. There he went from being a dishwasher to becoming a manager.
In 1997 he had a career change, and started working for a prominent utility company. There he wore MANY different hats and always did so with style and grace. He was a very dedicated employee and friend. He remained at this company until the time of his passing, almost 27 years.
When Manzo wasn't working he enjoyed RELAXING playing a video game or spending time with his fiance, family and friends. He loved football and was the "ULTIMATE RAIDERS FAN!" He had a lovely disposition that made people gravitate towards him. He was "a big teddy bear".
Almanzo leaves behind, to cherish his memories, his mother Ida Jones (Chicago), daughter Brianna (Ray-dawg-Portland), his special niece/daughter Lannaya (Chip-Vancouver), special nephew/son Gabriel (Gabe)(Portland), brother's John (Jeannette) and Curtis Jr.(Chicago), Sister's Bureden (Bonnie/Adell Warren), Robin (Nessie) (Chicago) and Tracy (Chuck) Mansfield (Portland). Many nieces who he SPOILED ROTTEN including Nichelle (Noonie) (Alabama) and Aunje'lle (Jug) (Portland) and many great nieces too. Nephews that he was a "Father Figure" to; Eric and Michael (Jamar) (Portland), numerous great nephews including Ezekiel (Zekester) (Kentucky). His love, his Fiance Lisa (Portland). Extension of people he considered family, Hana, Bernie, Isaiah Sr. and family. Best friends/sister and brother Andre and Bekke Johnson. A host of cousins that he adored, Childhood friends he absolutely treasured, Aunts and Uncles and MANY MANY friends. Manzo is preceeded in death by his Father Curtis Sr., Sisters Dora (Peggy) and Ella (Kat), Nephew Anthony (Tony), and his Beloved Son Dominique.
