Alois J. Lichterman, 75, of Manitowoc, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at The Bay at North Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
He was born on March 4, 1947 in Kewaunee to the late John and Lucy (Arendt) Lichterman. On May 15, 1971 he married the former Barbara J. Paulow at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Alois worked at Lakeside Machine Shop in Manitowoc as a welder for 43 years until his retirement. He served in the United States Navy as a boilermaker aboard the USS Casa Grande. Alois loved fishing with his grandchildren, vegetable gardening, and his sassy black cat, Kitty. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #731 in Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Eric (Sara) Lichterman of Oshkosh, Craig (Sarah) Lichterman of Iron Mountain, MI, and Nicole Yelmene (special friend, Mike Anderson) of Manitowoc; brothers, Joe of Two Rivers, Tony of Oshkosh, and Mike of Arizona; sisters, Dorie of Manitowoc, Clara of Denmark, and Mary of Manitowoc; grandchildren, Cody, Kameron, Kiara, Meya, Wes, Noella, Payton, Bailey, and special granddaughter, Natasha Marie; great-grandchildren, Cooper Lee and Adeline; special friends, Barb and Dan Brylow; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucy Lichterman; infant sister, Muriel; brothers, John (Shirley), Don (Dianne), and Dale (Debbie); sister-in-law, Mary E. Lichterman; brothers-in-law, Bruce A. Paulow and Chester Kusiak; and parents-in-law, Louis and Noella Paulow.
A Life Celebration Social for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, located on the south property of the funeral home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel and the family will have private entombment in Calvary Chapel Mausoleum at a later date. At 4:00 p.m. military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #731. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.
