ALPHEUS KENNETH “KEN” LAIN, JR., 79, passed away Friday morning, January 24, 2025 in his home following an illness.
Born in Columbia, SC, Ken was a son of the late Alpheus Kenneth “A. K.” Lain, Sr., and Maude Campbell Lain. When he was a young boy his family moved to California where they lived for a few years. He cherished the springtime tradition of attending the Aiken Steeplechase, where he looked forward to tailgating with friends and family. In addition, Ken dearly loved spending time on his boat at the Plum Branch Yacht Club on Lake Thurmond.
Survivors include his son, Michael Lain (Nicole), Aiken; grandchildren, Paige Lain, Conner McClain, Brittney Kelly, Kayla Edwards, Tyler Capps; great-grandchildren, Grayson Reeves, Jessie Joy Kelly, Dakota Stout; his sister, Alice Katherine King, Lexington, SC and his brother, Joe Lain (Susan), Mt. Pleasant, SC. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lain.
