Alphonse Carter "Bus," as he was affectionately called, was born on November 11, 1925, in Magnolia, Mississippi, to Lula Ransom and James Carter. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in April 1946.
Alphonse "Bus" Carter was united in holy matrimony to Hilda Mae Carter for 67 years, who preceded him in death. They were blessed with two sons, Dr. Alphonse (wife, Heddie) Carter, Jr., and Neal (wife, Marilyn) Carter, whom he leaves to cherish his memories, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
