Alphonse Nazario Obituary
Alphonse "DiDi" Nazario, age 90, of North Haven passed away on January 4, 2025 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Judith (Caruso) Nazario for over 52 years. Born on September 30, 1934, to Alphonse and Angelina (Esposito) Nazario. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Jennifer Mauriello and her husband Adam and their children Christine and Alexandra who lovingly named their grandfather "Poppy Di." He is also survived by a brother Peter (Tillie) Nazario as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Ralph, Danny, and John (Red) Nazario, Carol Sagnella, Louise and Loretta Esposito and his dogs Abigail and Panda, who stole his heart.
Alphonse served his country with honor in the US Army and upon returning home, had many jobs. He decided to go to night school where he graduated from Wilbur Cross. He was an avid reader and spent countless hours in the library. He took an opportunity to work for Metro North and worked his way up to the position of payroll clerk until retirement. DiDi and Judy met at Pepe's Apizza, and the rest is history! He loved music, especially listening to his many albums by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Andrea Bocelli. Together they went to see all their concerts through the years. They also enjoyed getting into their car and visiting all the little towns in Connecticut.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend, always ready to help. He will be missed by his loving family and all who knew him. His family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Rehabilitation Care Center, especially Maria, Candida and Suzie for their compassionate care.
Visiting hours will be Thursday January 9th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Pl., New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, North Haven at 12 p.m. The burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
