Mrs. Althea Marie Moses

You are forever in my memory for teaching me the way to do outreach and how to run meetings and how to be strong. I hate I didn't get to thank you in person but cherish your wisdom.

Althea I thought of you as the Kansas City Chiefs won the superbowl and you would have been at the parade for them winning another Super Bowl. Miss you RIP

Althea taught me how to conduct meetings and gave me an opportunity to be great, and I will always take what I have learned from her and apply it wisely.

I only recently learned of Althea's passing. I am shocked and deeply saddened at this news. I am still trying to wrap my mind around a world where Althea is no longer in it championing and fight for Environmental Justice for overlooked, underserved and overburdened low-income, communities of color. Please know that Althea will never be forgotten by her EPA Colleagues Agency-wide! Our world and lives are better for Althea having been in them! May God grant her family and EPA family comfort and peace. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5).

Althea you are an angel that the Lord has said it is now time for you to rest. I will miss hearing your voice and you cheering your Kansas City Chiefs. I and others will certainly miss you being a champion for the Environmental Justice Community. Rest in Peace. Sending prayers of strength to the family.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Words can't fully express the intense positive energy Althea brought to living whether it was work, colleagues, friends or family. Her Remembrance Tree will symbolize Althea's impact on the EJ community, rooted in her nurturing influence and dedication in making EJ the force that it is today.

It is so hard to believe Althea did not make it. She was direct, thoughtful, purpose-driven, kind, committed, determined, thorough, audacious, and a fierce advocate for environmental justice. She was an avid educator who used every encounter and opportunity to inform and enlighten. She was a historian as well and had a vast knowledge base of environmental justice history and work within the agency and regions. She was a storehouse of valuable institutional and practitioner knowledge. She was the ultimate colleague- helpful, collegial, and mission-driven. She was sincere and gave her all if she was going to show up. Her enthusiasm and focus on mission was infectious. For Althea, work within the environmental justice program was not just work; it was her passion and duty to humanity. It is unfortunate she will not be able to continue this work. She will be missed by many in the community of practice.
To her husband and family: Thank you for fighting hard to give her a chance to live and for sharing your journey with us. Your advocacy to get her the care she needed is beyond inspiring. Thank you for supporting her during her lifetime so that she could be a blessing to others. She is irreplaceable and unforgettable. Take comfort in the knowledge that she gave the gift of light wherever she showed up. I pray God gives you the strength to overcome this loss.

Sincere condolences to your family. Althea was always reminding us how to work best with communities and to listen to their concerns. Glad to have worked and learned so much from her.

I am so saddened to hear of Althea's passing. I knew you were all fighting so hard for her recovery. She was an innovator and tireless advocate in EPA environmental health work for communities. Althea you did so much for so many people and communities. You never shied away from doing the right thing even when faced with insurmountable odds. Thank you for your grace and love that you shared with thousands. Your legacy will live on and you will never be forgotten.

Althea was a kind, compassionate, and dedicated champion for the protection and revitalization of communities and citizens in need. She was a relentless advocate for fairness and change. She was a warrior for the people who will be missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to her lovely family. God bless you all.

Marcus, Malcolm, Mackenzie, Micah, ... the list of those who loved and reaped benefits of Althea's love - my most sincere condolences. She was a champion for the whole of the environment and the ecology of its people.
