Mr. Alton “Leroy” Smith, 74, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born February 23, 1951, in Forsyth County, NC. to the late Thomas “Happy” Smith and Cassie Preston Smith. Leroy was a loving husband, father, and friend. He retired from RJ Reynolds in 2003 after many years of service. Leroy was a member of Jefferson Christian Church in Rural Hall, NC. He was an avid golfer. In his spare time, Leroy enjoyed landscaping, spending time with his dogs, watching sports, and attending shows and concerts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Jack Smith, Peggy Blevins, Jim Smith, Bob Smith, and Bill Smith. Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lisa Burrow Smith; daughter, Shannon Smith (Brett Leasure); sister, Betty Ernst; sisters-in-law, Gaye Smith, Ann Smith, and Louise Smith; brother-in-law, Landon Burrow (Annette); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11am Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Jefferson Christian Church Worship Center with Steve Cook, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Forsyth Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC, 27104.
