Alverna Blehm, 97 years of age, passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Grace Pointe Senior Care in Greeley. She was born September 23, 1928, at home in Weld County to Jake and Lydia (Deering) Smith. Alverna and her two sisters were raised on the family farm near Windsor. She graduated from Windsor High School.

Alverna married Edward Blehm in 1949, and they farmed and fed cattle north of Windsor for 25 years. She took an active role in their work, driving trucks for corn and beet harvest and keeping the books. Their son Ron took over the farming operation when they moved to Fort Collins. She and Edward enjoyed Dutch hops, card games with friends, and worship services at Timberline Church. A Caribbean cruise with friends and polka music created good memories. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary shortly before his death in 2009.

After moving to Fort Collins, Alverna provided care for her mother for several years. Her interest in good health led to an in-home business consulting and selling nutritional and household products. She had a green thumb, maintaining beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Even houseplants thrived under her care. She was an excellent seamstress and cook, preparing wonderful holiday meals for the family. She enjoyed lifelong friendships, especially among farming neighbors and high school classmates. A memorable day for her was a special family gathering at her home to celebrate her 90th birthday. Several months later, she moved into Collinwood Assisted Living.

Alverna is survived by son Ron (Marge) of Windsor and daughter Linda (Ed) of Greeley; grandchildren Christine Ehrhardt (Mike) of California, Jonathan Blehm (Jeni) of Wellington, Laurie Wilson (Matt) of Fort Collins, Mary Carlson (Cameron) of Johnstown, Kari Warren (Will) of Greeley, Adam Blehm (Jennifer) of Oklahoma and Micah Blehm (Cody) of Texas; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, sisters Doris and Judy, son Gary, and grandson Douglas Blehm.

A private family graveside service is planned for a later date at Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins.
