Alvin Lee Brooks, age 8, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, in his home.
Alvin was born December 15, 2017, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Alvin Deandra Brooks and Claire Blake. He was a student at Iles Elementary where he was student of the month this past December. Alvin was a bright shining light in Mrs. Loertscher's classroom where he consistently defied all expectations given him by the medical establishment. He loved playing pranks on family and friends, going for car rides, and playing on the swings. He loved listening to all kinds of music, and watching Veggie Tales and Spongebob. Alvin left a lasting impression on all who met him. He was a happy boy with a smile bright enough to light the darkest room. He loved his family and he had a special bond with his dad; memories of the time they spent together will forever be the treasure in his father's heart. Alvin Was a good, strong boy, who loved life.
Survivors include: his parents, Alvin Brooks and Claire Blake, both of Quincy; grandfather, Robert Blake; grandmother Patricia Ann Brooks; great grandparents, Robert and Patricia Blake; an aunt, Courtney Blake; and numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
Alvin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marcella Blake; and great grandparents Chester and Mary Couchman.
Visitation: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Sunday February 22, 2026, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Services: 3:00 pm Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Lefever officiating. Private inurnment will be in Quincy Memorial Park at a later date.
