Alvin L. Graves

Alvin L. Graves, 74, of Westland, died Monday, January 26, 2026, in his home. He was born September 23, 1951, in Oak Hill, W.Va., a son of the late Rush and Cleopatra Ward Graves. Alvin was a 1970 graduate of Montgomery High School in Montgomery, W.Va. He had worked in the maintenance and custodial department of the U.S. Postal Service in Pittsburgh and as a local barber. Alvin enjoyed fishing. On November 30, 1991, he married Ann Jemison, who survives. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Angela Jemison of Falls Church, Va., Angela Murray (Clevon) of Charleston, W.Va., and Rae Wagner of Washington; two grandchildren, Khalil Rivera and Annika Barrett; two brothers, Leonard Graves (Freda) of Dunkirk, Md., and Mitchell Graves of Waldorf, Md.; three sisters, Carolyn Graves of Page, W.Va., Cynthia Coles (Ralph) of Dearborn, Mich., and Terry Davenport (Joe) of Dunbar, W.Va.; his best friend, Doug C. Callaway; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Rush, Jr., Rochnell and William Graves. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, February 5, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 6. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, where full military rites will be accorded by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the U.S. Army.
