Alvin “Al” M. Hershberger, 87, of Dalton, died Friday, March 29, 2024 at Shady Lawn Retirement Home.

Al was born November 10, 1936 in Berlin, Ohio to Melvin D. and Mary Ann

{Hershberger} Hershberger.

He attended Bunker Hill East Holmes Schools.

He married Vickie Telck on May 26, 1990. She died July 23, 2022.

Al worked for Custer Products LTD. He was a member of the West Lebanon Community Church He was a member of the Wooster Coin Club, where he loved collecting old coins. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball for many years.

Al will be deeply missed by his daughters Aileene “Allie” Vanderhoof of Dalton and Marlisa Vanderhoof of TX, grandson Nicholas Vanderhoof of Akron, great granddaughter Kielynn Vanderhoof of Barberton; brother Wayne Hershberger of Wooster; and sister Clara Weaver of Fredericksburg.

Al was preceded in death by parents, daughter Alana Vanderhoof, grandson Travis Vanderhoof, sisters Anna Detweiler and Sylvia Beachy and brother Roy Miller.

Friends may call Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the West Lebanon Community Church. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 at the church (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Alvin- Hershberger) with Pastor Ruthann Bosley officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd. Wooster, Ohio 44691.
