Alvin "Dale" Houk

Alvin "Dale" Houk, 92, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. Born on October 6, 1933 in Pennsylvania, Dale spent his early years in Wampum, PA before moving to Sunnyvale, California in 1943 with his mother and brother.
Dale proudly served nine years in the military, serving in the United States Air Force and United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division- an accomplishment he carried with great pride throughout his life. After his military service, he went on to build a life marked by resilience, independence, and a deep appreciation for staying active. For 20 years, Dale made his home in Leland, North Carolina, where he lived with his wife and soulmate, Elena. Together they shared a quiet, loving life filled with the simple joys- listening to Elvis Presley songs, spending time together, and taking long walks with their beloved dog, Elvis. These were Dale's happiest years. Dale was endlessly proud of his four children: Debra, Christine, Peter, and Barbara and he loved each of them deeply. His devotion to his family was one of the defining constants of his long life. An avid runner, biker and golfer, Dale found joy in movement and the outdoors. Dale will be remembered for his love of family, sense of adventure, and the quiet strength he carried through a long and meaningful life.
Dale is survived by his four children; his grandchildren: Guy Savery, Christopher Savery, Ryan Cruz, and Lauren Cruz; great-grandchildren: Jonah Savery and Ava Savery. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry Houk, Rick Thiemann and David Thiemann.
Interment of the cremated remains will be scheduled on a later date at the convenience of the family in St. Raymond's New Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
