Alvin McClellan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by River Valley Funeral & Cremation on Feb. 2, 2024.
AJ was born to Woodrow and Mamie McClellan on August 26, 1944, in Donna, Texas. He was the 3rd oldest child of six children.
At a young age, his family moved to Okanogan, Washington, where he attended grade school and high school, graduating in 1964. He was drafted into the Army in 1964 and served until 1967.
He married Cynthia Mitchell in 1968. They started their family in 1975 when Nicole was born, followed by Justin in 1980.
He worked in various jobs throughout Okanogan County. AJ loved to hunt and fish and provided abundantly for this family with his bow and arrow, a traditional Longbow. AJ passed on his traditional Longbow knowledge and skill up until his passing.
AJ managed the Valley View Orchard (apples) in Benton City, WA, until 1992. He drove long-haul semi-trucks throughout the United States until his retirement in 2017. AJ loved being a grandpa when Jessica was born in 2001 and Jonathan in 2015.
AJ moved to Alaska in 2004, where he met Lois Foster. They married in 2005 and settled in Anchorage, Alaska. Lois would accompany him on his long-haul trips between Alaska and the Lower 48.
Lois and AJ loved camping, picking berries, fishing, and playing bingo. AJ's favorite pastime was looking for gold and other metals with his fancy metal detector. He was quite proud that he didn't run into any bears. He made many friends throughout his lifetime by his endearing and laid-back personality and his knack for storytelling and jokes.
AJ is survived by his wife Lois, daughter Stacy Nicole, son Justin, grandchildren Jessica and Jonathan, and stepson Robert Foster. His sister Bonnie Hendricks and brothers Jerry, Ronnie, and Steve survived him.
AJ was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mamie, brother Richard, first wife Cindy, and stepson Alan Foster.
