Alvin Sargent passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 9 at Fry-Smith Funeral Home from 5-7pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10th at 1:00pm at the Ovalo Baptist Church.
Alvin Ray Sargent was born on June 17, 1941 to Laurice and Willie Sargent in Rosksprings. Texas. Alvin served in the Army from 1959-1963. After that, he began working in the oil field where he worked for twenty plus years.
Alvin used to love to make everybody laugh and tell jokes. He loved his family and would do anything for them. You could never keep him inside or keep him still. He was a man of motion, energy, and great love.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Sargent.
He is survived by an older sister Etta Hargrove, his brother John "Butch" Sargent, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
There will be many that will miss him and love him and can't wait to see him again.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alvin's memory to the Cancer Services Network at 1242 N 4th St. in Abilene, Texas 79601.
