Alvin Sherrill

Alvin Sherrill, age 95, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026.

Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. He graduated from Carson-Newman College with a degree in accounting and went on to enjoy a distinguished 35-year career with the Internal Revenue Service. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bluegrass, Alvin lived a life grounded in faith, integrity, and devotion to his family.

He dearly loved his family and dedicated his life to caring for and supporting them. Alvin found great joy in camping and hiking in the mountains, tending to his garden, and traveling. In his later years, he especially enjoyed spending quiet hours working jigsaw puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Sherrill, and his parents, William and Agnes Sherrill.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Peggie; his children, Kathy (Steve) Simpkins, Randy (Gracie) Sherrill, Mike (Teresa) Sherrill, and Cindy (Jimmy) Hunt; his stepchildren Cathy Perkins, Pam (John) Davis; his grandchildren, John Sherrill, Eli, Josh, Jake, and Lauren; his step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His brother Jerry Sherrill and nephew.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday.
