A beloved Middle Georgia native, Alvin Washington, Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Navicent Medical Center in Macon.

Born in Macon, on March 5, 1956, Alvin Washington Sr., was the son of Annie Frances Washington and the late George Washington Sr. He graduated from Northside High School in 1974 and served his country in the Army Reserves. Alvin was a dedicated family man, sharing five beautiful children with Mae Braswell Washington.

Throughout his life, Alvin showed great dedication to his work. He worked at several places including Piggly Wiggly, Food Max, Brown and Williamson Janitorial Services, M&S Janitorial Services on Robins Air Force Base, and Washington Home Improvement.

Alvin was known for his love of fishing, dancing, and most of all, spending cherished moments with his family. On November 3, 2013, Alvin became a devoted member of Warner Hill Mission Church, and was baptized a couple of weeks later on November 17, 2013.

Alvin Washington Sr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. 

In addition to his father, Alvin was preceded in death by his son, Marvence Braswell; and grandchildren, Elijah Homer and Hayvin Anthony; and brother, Melvin Washington, Sr.

Alvin is survived by his children, Shawnte Washington Anthony (Vinson), Tamaria Washington, Alvin Washington, Jr., and Kannisha Homer, all of whom lovingly called him “Dadda” and "Pops"; grandchildren, McKenzie Washington, Hayleigh and Hayden Anthony, and Hannah and Jabari Homer; mother, Annie Frances Washington; and siblings, Velma Hicks (Terrell), Gloria Washington, George Washington, Jr., Deborah Grayer; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.  Afterward, Alvin Washington, Sr. will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. 

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory to The Alvin Washington, Sr. Memorial Fund, in care of McCullough Funeral Home at 417 South Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
