Alyn “Dean” Ames, 72, life long resident of Dalhart, passed away on Wednesday, January, 14, 2026, in Amarillo. A memorial service celebrating Dean’s life will be held at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the Chapel at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas with Brother Kurtis Abla and Pastor Michael Wilcox officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Dean was born on February 6, 1953, in Dalhart to Tommy and LaNita Ames. He graduated from Dalhart High school in 1972 where he enjoyed and became proficient in mechanical drawing. Dean met the love of his life Gay Bollinger, and they were married on July 22, 1972. Dean was a hard working man with a great sense of humor. Dean built a career in mechanics, trucking and was a jack of all trades. Dean loved spending time at the family built cabin near Eagle Nest, he also enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake and listening to classic rock music. Dean was happiest spending time with his family and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his father Tommy, and three brothers Larry, Garry and Tommy Lee Ames.
He is survived by his mother LaNita Ames and his wife Gay Ames both of Dalhart Tx. His son Brad Ames and his wife Candy of Bushland, son Kris Ames and wife Jamie of Jeanerette, LA, his son Shane Ames and wife Casey of Jeanerette LA. and Daughter Charity Ames and fiance Justin Banister of Dalhart, TX; Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is loved and will forever be missed…
