Amanda Paige Hart (nee Marquis), 38, personal trainer, passed away gently at home in Skokie, February 10, 2025, in the arms of her husband and their son, after a valiant battle with metastatic inflammatory breast cancer.
Born in Bellefontaine, OH, Amanda graduated from Benjamin Logan High School before earning two degrees from Ohio State University in Human Ecology and Exercise Science.
It was in 5th grade that Amanda found herself seated at a quad table with Andy Hart. The two became good friends, then best friends, and then in their freshman year of college, started dating. The couple married on July 1, 2006, while they were still undergrads, and moved to Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood in 2010.
After a stint at Northwestern University Rec Center in Evanston as a personal trainer (with side trips to Joliet's Ladies Workout Express), Amanda settled into a position as fitness trainer and class instructor at Levy Senior Center in Evanston, where she worked for a decade before retiring in summer of 2022.
Amanda was an excellent cook and baker of breads and pastries.
She made the best mashed potatoes using her grandmother's recipe, and her son was wild about her cheeseburger loaf. Amanda was realistic, practical, and practiced radical acceptance of her diagnosis. She cared deeply for her son and husband, and also generally for other people's experiences. She was always willing to share from her own life's journey, whether it was fertility struggles (she even had a blog), cooking and baking, or her cancer diagnosis. She was active in support groups and always wanted to connect with others.
Beloved wife of 18 years to Andrew Lewis Hart and devoted mother of Harrison Douglas Hart. Cherished daughter of Douglas Robert Marquis and Linda Lee Marquis (nee Sine) of Bellefontaine, OH; loving sister of Erica Lynn (Brett) Monday of Arlington, OH; dear granddaughter of Barbara Marquis and the late Jon Marquis of Spring Hills, OH and the late James and Joan Sine of Zanesfield, OH. Proud aunt of Beau, Cade, and Delaney Monday. Best friend of Mike (Ian Wu) Gifford.
Amanda chose to donate her body to science through the Anatomical Gift Association.
Celebration of Life Sunday, February 23, 11am - 2:30pm (eulogies begin 12noon) in Bobby's Room, at Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202.
