Amanda Marie Riley, age 68, departed this life at West Jefferson Medical Center on Saturday, December 14, 2024, with her sister Laura by her side. She was a native and resident of Marrero, LA. Amanda graduated from L. W. Higgins High as the class valedictorian. She furthered her education at the University of New Orleans (UNO), where she received both her Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Education. Amanda later attended the Richmond Bible College. She was an educator with the Jefferson Parish Public School System and Rivarde Detention Center for 37 years, prior to retirement. Loving daughter of Alvin Rily Sr. and Sarah Riley. Granddaughter of the late John and Laura Williams, Joseph, Sr. and Iona Riley. Beloved sister of Laura Riley, Alvin Riley, Jr., Patricia Johnson, Callise Phillip, and the late Sylvia Riley. Niece of John Riley, Frank Williams, Curtis Williams, Eunice Smith, Pearl Davis, Mildred Riley, and Bishop Sarah Williams. Amanda is also survived by her devoted niece, Twana Riley, and host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, offices, and members of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, New Zion Baptist Church, New Zion Christian Family Center and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Public School System are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 6223 6th Avenue, Marrero, LA on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Edward Joseph, III, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
