Amber Danielle Myrick-Cardenas, 37, of Littlestown, PA, formerly of
Sykesville, MD, passed away peacefully, wrapped in the love of her family, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on January 4, 1988, in Columbia, MD, Amber lived her life with passion, compassion, and unwavering faith. She was a graduate of Century High School, Class of 2006, and later the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus. A true servant at heart, Amber proudly served as an EMT with the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department and later with the Baltimore County Fire Department at the Randallstown and Owings Mills stations.
Amber's heart for helping others continued throughout her life and into her career at ABA Solutions, where she worked in Human Resources. She took great pride in supporting the staff and team behind the mission and often shared how deeply fulfilled she felt in her role. She loved what she did and found purpose in being a steady presence of encouragement and care within her workplace family.
Amber's life was a beautiful reflection of creativity, joy, and love. She grew up dancing and loved to sing, paint, and surround herself with flowers. She devoted time to coaching cheerleading with the Sykesville Raiders and always found joy in encouraging others. She treasured the beach, moments with her family, and especially her faith. Amber's love for Jesus and her church family at Freedom Valley Church in Gettysburg, PA, was the foundation of her life and carried her through every season.
Above all else, Amber's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to Freddy Cardenas, and a fiercely loving mother to her five-year-old twins, Maverick and Locksley McCleary, and her precious baby boy, Federico James Cardenas (9 months old). Her love as a mother was boundless, tender, and pure.
Amber was the beloved daughter of Natalie Starr Myrick and Charles William Whittaker; cherished daughter-in-law of Federico and Monica Cardenas; treasured sister of Michaela Hope Myrick-Whittaker, Charles Lucas Myrick-Whittaker, Joshua Brooks Myrick-Whittaker, and Caleb Benjamin Myrick-Whittaker, and Samantha Dakis. She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Don and Mary Dakis; her loving Godmother, Stacy Hilliard; her loving uncle, Troy Myrick; her best friend, Andrea Shockney; along with many cousins, dear friends, and all those whose lives were forever touched by her warmth and kindness.
Amber will be remembered for her radiant smile, her gentle heart, her deep faith, and her incredible ability to love others so completely. Though our hearts are broken, we cling to God's promise found in Jeremiah 31:13:
"I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow."
While we grieve deeply, we rejoice in knowing Amber is dancing in the presence of her Savior.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, December 16, and from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday, December 17, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road,
Sykesville, MD. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home, with her pastor, Rev. Candace Pringle, officiating. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville.
