Amelia Bertrand was born on September 10, 1930, to Joe and Fern Clement in Souix City, IA. She graduated from Central High in 1948 and married Hubert Bertrand the following year, in 1949. Amelia spent her early years raising her family and farming in Jefferson, SD.
Amelia loved cooking and gardening, putting her heart into every meal she made. Family mealtimes brought her the greatest joy. She also enjoyed playing bridge and had a strong interest in astrology.
Amelia is survived by her grandchildren: Belinda (Dennis) Johnson, Dustin (Jenny) Bertrand, Hollie Benson, and Katie (Russ) Mulkey; great-grandchildren: Jory (Kelsey Osborn), Colby (Dawnessa Johnson), Shayla, Brenna, Taylor Ann, Evan, Tessa, Sam, and Ian; and great-great-grandchildren: Nova and Ainsley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Bertrand; her children, Steve, Paul, Carol Will, and Angela Benson; and her parents, Joe and Fern Clement.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Meyer Brothers Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Amelia requested that donations be made to the Siouxland Humane Society (siouxlandhumanesociety.org) or the Civil Bend Cemetery Association.
