Amelia L. Hall, a devoted nurse, loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2025, at Maple Glen Assisted Living Facility. She was 93 years old.
Born and raised in Langleyville, Illinois, Amelia graduated from Taylorville High School, where she met her beloved husband, James Hall. She pursued her lifelong passion for helping others by earning her nursing degree from St. John's College of Nursing. Amelia and James raised their children in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, building a home full of love and cherished family traditions.
For 48 years, Amelia devoted her life to caring for others as a nurse. She worked in some of the most demanding areas of medicine, including the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, and Operating Room, and later became the Head Nurse of a wing at Edwards Hospital. Her colleagues and patients remember her calm presence, unwavering dedication, and ability to bring comfort during life's most difficult moments.
Outside of her professional life, Amelia was known for her warmth. She was a wonderful cook who delighted in preparing meals for family gatherings and holidays. She also enjoyed golfing and treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren. Amelia found happiness in simple pleasures - shared laughter, quiet mornings with loved ones, and the meaningful connections she made throughout her life.
Amelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Hall, and her parents, Mary and Pross Catalpa. She is survived by her children, Jamie (Mike) Breslin and Kirk (Penny) Hall; grandchildren, Jeffrey (DeAnna) Breslin and Jennifer (Anthony) Trankina; great-grandson, Steven Trankina; and many dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory. Amelia will be remembered as a caregiver and hero to those who knew her - a woman who lived her life in service to others, always with grace, kindness, and love.
No formal funeral service will be held. The family asks that friends and loved ones honor Amelia's memory in their own way, remembering the love and compassion she shared so freely.
