Amy Franscilla DeGroat was born August 3, 1956 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Vernon and Elizabeth "Betty" (Schreiner) Teiken. She is a graduate of Waubun (MN) High School. Following graduation, she worked at Hedahl's in Detroit Lakes. Amy was united in marriage to Johnny DeGroat April 4, 1978. They made their home in Elk River, MN where she worked for Kwik Files for 16 years. She then worked for CNC OPPS part -time until being diagnosed with cancer. She then worked for Reinhart Foods and enjoyed a part - time bus route with the special needs students in Elk River. Amy was devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandma. She loved people, country music, playing cards, was a great bowler and enjoyed her Friday nights with her lady friends playing cards. Amy will be missed and remembered by her husband: Johnny of Elk River; 2 sons: Wade (Sara) of Ramsey, MN, Chad of Elk River; 3 daughters: Jenny of Elk River, Carrie of Princeton, MN, Amanda (Troy) of Buffalo, MN, 5 grandsons: Timmothy, Anthony, Allen, Tayt and Andrew; 5 granddaughters: Makayla, Ema, Kalene, Christene and Calissa; her mother: Betty Teiken of Ogema; 4 brothers: Tom (Janice) of Ogema, Mark (Phylliss) of Mahnomen, MN, Carl (Merry) of Ogema and Allen ("Bud" (Teresa) of Ogema; 6 sisters: Mary (Jim) Mott of Grand Forks, ND, Jean Beaupre of Fargo, ND, Linda (Lloyd) Jirava of Ogema, Margaret (Wally) Lefebvre of Callaway, MN, Rita (Brad) Westlund of Lake Park, MN and Judy (Richie) Berger of Waubun, MN. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon, a nephew: Michael Teiken, brother-in-law: William Beaupre, grandparents: Herman & Margaret Teiken and Henry & Catherine Schreiner.
