Amy Lou Ernst

1952 - 2023

Amy Lou Ernst passed away in her sleep on June 27, 2023, at Alley ALH assisted living home in Anchorage, Alaska, where the wonderful staff took very good care of her the last three years of her life. She was well loved and remembered by them.

Amy was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Virginia and Alan Marshall on July 23, 1952. She came to Alaska in 1964 after the Good Friday earthquake in August with her parents and older sister, Cheryl and younger brothers, Michael and Kevin.

On May 31, 1972 she married the love of her life, Floyd Dale Ernst, married by Pastor Davey Crockett.

Five years later they welcomed their first daughter, Laura into the world, a day before their fifth wedding anniversary. Five years later Jennefer was born. Then later in life they adopted two teenage daughters, Shelley and Nicole.

Amy graduated from Lathrop in 1971. She graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a certificate in cake decorating. She then went on to become a caregiver for many elderly patients in their homes. As first a house cleaner and then assisted living caregiver Amy went on to get her CNA and RNA degrees in her spare time.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Dale Ernst; her sister, Nanciann,; and son-in-law, John Bass Sr.

She is survived by four daughters living and nine grandsons, one step-granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and many more relatives.

Amy's funeral will be 3-4 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Legacy Funeral Home Anchorage, Kehl's Chapel, 11621 Old Seward Highway. A celebration of life will be held from 3-5 p.m. Aug. 2 at Fairbanks Lutheran Church, 1012 Cowles St.
