Amy Jerrolds

Amy Lynn Powell Jerrolds was born July 12, 1969. She went to be with the Lord and Savior on January 27, 2024, at the age 54, after a courageous, almost three-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Amy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee, where she was a nursery worker.

In 1987, Amy graduated Hardin County High School and began a 25 year career with Aqua Glass Corporation (Masco Bath), becoming an invaluable member of the marketing department. Her roles included literature fulfillment and managing the employee uniform program. More recently, Amy managed Pretty in Pink Boutique in Savannah.

Amy's vibrant personality touched thousands of lives, and her friendships were as vast as they were genuine. Amy was the definition of a good friend. She was so proud of her family, especially her children Maggy and Myles, and her first granddaughter, Mable Lynn. A wonderful wife to Dennis, the two spent many years boating on the Tennessee River, teaching countless children to swim, water ski, and love river life. Amy founded and created T-shirts for Cerro Gordo Water Sports Academy and happily gifted one to anyone blessed to share a day on the river with her and her family. She and Dennis also helped teach many to snow ski in Paoli Peaks, Indiana, and Park City, Utah, adding Cerro Gordo Snow Sports Academy to there resume. She naturally knew how to make every activity fun and meaningful. 

Amy cherished her parents, Vicki and Larry, and they loved and adored her. She honored them all the days of her life. Amy believed (and it is true) that her daddy could do anything. He was her hero. She adored her mother, Vicki, and inherited her strength and willingness to help others. Amy's big brother Patrick was also very special to her, and she often shared funny stories about their childhood. She looked up to him and valued his advice. 

Her artistic spirit manifested in her home filled with unique treasures like arrowheads, an Indian canoe bookcase, and festive Annalee characters displayed during Christmas. An airstream camper, gifted by Dennis, awaited her artistic touch that was sadly interrupted by cancer. She also loved crafting, embroidery, and working in her park-like yard-- a trait most likely inferited from her Mama Jack, who also has a magazine-worthy lawn. 

Amy's plans for a pickle ball court on their property reflected her commitment to creating joy and laughter for her family and friends. Amy loved "wiener dogs" and had several during her lifetime, including Scooby, whom she had for many years, and Titus, whom she leaves behind. 

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dennis; daughter, Maggy (Carter) Beckham; son, Myles (Anna), and granddaughter, Mable Lynn. Amy also leaves behind her parents, Vicki and Larry Powell, her brother, Patrick (Denise) Powell, her dear Uncle Walter, and a host of nieces and nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents WC and Jackie (Mama Jack) Pickett and Coy Lee and Ocie Mae Powell. Amy's legacy is etched in the hearts of her family.

In her absence, Amy would be delighted to witness the gathering of all of us today. She loved us and we loved her right back. With her infectious smile and loving heart, she would encourage us to love life, cherish moments, and embrace the little joys. She would want us to slow down, savor life's precious moments, and make more memories. Buy the good shoes and wear them. Enjoy the outdoors and make your home a haven for yourself and all who visit. Find a church and volunteer in some capacity, for we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10) She would want us to lean on each other, share a memory of her once and a while, and live with integrity, ensuring that we can eventually reunite with her in heaven.
